OUR DESIGNERS
All glass design is created directly in the premises of Crystalex in Nový Bor, where tradition and modern technology are combined under one roof. With a few exceptions, the designs of decorations and shapes are created by in-house designers who work closely with the production to ensure that the final product meets not only aesthetic but also technical requirements.
Historically, the company has had a number of top artists who have designed both automated shapes and metallurgical glass – but this is no longer produced or sold today. Below, we present mainly those artists whose designs are still part of the current range and continue to appeal to customers around the world.
Markéta Lukavcová
graduated in glass engraving at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Kamenický Šenov. She has been working at Crystalex as a designer since 1993.
She has designed Kate, Emma, Megan, Peony
and many other decorated files.
Martin Jašontek
graduated in glass painting at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Kamenický Šenov. He then went on to study glass design at Tomáš Bata University in Zlín. His work is influenced by the environment of the industrial city of Zlín and draws on his strong relationship with history and its social values.
Since 2023 he has been working at Crystalex as an art director.
He has designed 4For1, Serious Gentleman and Folkor.
Eva Ježdíková
graduated in glass engraving at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Kamenický Šenov. After school, she joined the emerging glassworks AJETO Lindava, where she worked alongside world-renowned artists and glassmakers. She further developed her creativity in the advertising agency MEA NB, where she worked for twenty years.
She has worked as a designer at Crystalex since 2016
and has designed many decorated sets there.
Vanda Mocová
She studied jewellery design at the Secondary School of Arts and Crafts in Jablonec nad Nisou. Since 1981 she worked as a designer in the company Crystalex in Nový Bor, where she worked on decorations across techniques – from painting, cutting, engraving to screen printing and sandblasting.
In recent years, she has focused on designing machine-made cup sets such as Viola, Sandra, Elisabeth and Giselle. Today she is no longer active at Crystalex.
Song Mi Kim
She studied sculpture at Sungshin College in Seoul,
and went on to study at the Academy of Arts and Crafts
in Prague, where she studied in the studio of Vladimír Kopecký.
She has won numerous awards, and her work is represented in many
collections. Her sculptures, paintings and art installations
tell personal stories in an emotional and sensitive way.
She designed the Folklore and Decoration set for the Egermann brand.
Barbora Zachovalová
studied illustration and graphic design at the Academy of Arts and Crafts
in Prague. She works in applied, decorative and free
illustration, graphic design in architecture and the combination of illustration
and design. Her clients include the Karlovy Vary Hotel
Pupp, the Central Bohemian Region Gallery, Artefly and many other
private entities. She is the co-founder of the Fluo brand, with
which she has twice won the Edida Award.
She designed the collection for IGS 2021 and the decoration files for
the Beauty: Blonde, Tattoo and Alchemist collections.
Roman Vitek
For many years he was a goalkeeper in the floorball extraliga,
until he finally tried spraying his own goalie mask
and the airbrush technique immediately fascinated him. In 2010, he started
as a goalkeeper coach for the Czech
women’s national floorball team and in 2019 for the men’s national team. He turned this advantage,
and in 2014 became a professional airbrusher,
whose artwork adorns many masks on the courts.
He designed the Czech In ensemble and participated in IGS 2021.
Eduard Hrabal
graduated from the High School of Media Graphics and Printing
in Rumburk. He has always loved to draw, and at the age of 17 he designed
his first set for Crystalex – Ed’s Fish for the Beauty collection.
